What HomeOS provides

HomeOS helps you keep a record of a home and see maintenance guidance based on what you add. Guidance is informational. It is there to help you remember and plan. It is not a home inspection, an engineering opinion, a repair diagnosis, or advice from a licensed contractor.

Your judgment, and your safety

You remain responsible for your home and for the decisions you make about it. That includes deciding whether a task is safe to do yourself, and when to hire a qualified professional.

Follow manufacturer instructions, local codes, and the limits of your own experience. If something involves gas, electrical systems, structure, fire, or any condition you are unsure about, stop and hire a licensed professional. Do not treat HomeOS as a substitute for that judgment.

Guidance may be incomplete

Homes differ. Recommendations, reminders, and product information may be incomplete, general, or out of date. HomeOS does not guarantee that guidance covers every system in your house, every risk, or every task that is due. Check the equipment in front of you before you act.

Products and services from other companies

HomeOS may describe or list products and services offered by other companies, including maintenance products and professional services. A listing is not an endorsement, a review, a warranty, or a promise that the product or service is right for your home. Listing something does not, by itself, mean HomeOS endorses it.

Your purchase or booking is between you and that company. Their prices, terms, and policies apply.

Affiliate links

Some product links may, in the future, be affiliate links. If they are, HomeOS may earn a commission from a qualifying purchase, at no extra cost to you. A clear disclosure will appear on any page where those links are actually present.

There are no affiliate links on this website today. Earning a commission later would not, by itself, mean HomeOS endorses that product.

Your account and your information

If accounts become available, you are responsible for the information you add and for keeping your sign-in credentials to yourself. Add only information you have the right to store. The Privacy Policy describes how to ask for access or deletion.

You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us if you believe someone else is using it without your permission.

Acceptable use

Use HomeOS for your own home record and for learning about home maintenance. Do not misuse the site or the app, interfere with how they operate, attempt to access data that is not yours, or use HomeOS in a way that harms someone else.

No warranty, in plain language

HomeOS is provided as-is and as-available. We work to keep the information and the service useful. We do not promise that they will be error-free, complete, or always available.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, HomeOS and its operators are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss, injury, or damage arising from your use of the website, the app, maintenance guidance, or a third-party product or service.

Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law says cannot be limited.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The effective date will change when that happens. If you keep using HomeOS after the new date, the updated terms apply. If you have an account and a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Virginia, except where the law where you live requires something else.
